Hey, I was searching a box of pennies for wheats and I found this error. I don't normally even look for errors but this one stood out. Before the "In" in "In God We Trust" there is a extra piece of metal. I know the pic is bad, but I can email better pics to anyone who is interested. The coins is at least in AU condition but has two small flake of paint on it. What kind of error is this and does it have value? -James
It is probably a cud. It happens when a piece of metal breaks out of the die creating a small indention in the die. Usually little if any premium on this type of coin.
