1982 doubled die obverse?

    This is not a doubled die. It may look like it because the illumination is coming from 6 o'clock and forms heavy shadows on the 12 o'clock side.

    Neither can I' but we might see more if the photos were taken with a well distributed illumination

    The 6 o'clock side is the illuminated side, you were right on that. Look under the nose and ear, it's even showing, there. The optics are off for it, that's why we can't give a definitive answer.
