Hey I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I have a worn circulated penny. It looks to be a small date. When I compare it to another 1982 D penny, the 9 and 8 look to be lower. (more noticeable on the 9)

The coin in question is the first picture (front and back), comparison is last.

Thank you for the info. I’m new to coin collecting, and I’ve already taken a huge interest.

I know lol. I was walking around and found it in the street. I just pick up coins I see to add to my collection. I just thought the date looked different than the comparison penny

It's a large date. But all hope isn't lost. He should check it out to see if it's a "double die."

Here is a famous one. IDK if this is real or counterfeit. This one is often counterfeited.(I think this one is real.)

    Welcome to CT!

There comes a point where the uniqueness/value of a coin is totally negated for the majority of "collectors". This is the case with your "cent". Your coin is not "worn & circulated", it's totally damaged beyond redemption.

On the other hand, you can always ebay it ("throw it against the wall & see if it sticks"). There is ALWAYS someone who would be interested in it for some reason.

The difference between the large and the small date is obvious, top large, bottom small:
