Oh sorry.. That member is the small date large date expert. He will be around soon to tell you what it's worth.. Something like 1 Cent Here is some good information to help you http://www.lincolncentresource.com/smalldates/1982.html
That scale is NOT sensitive enough. You need to be able to see tenths of a gram, and that's REALLY a small weight. It IS a Denver, and it IS a small date, but its status as bronze is a HUGE jump to conclusions. Also, the D looks a little sketchy, like it might be an add-on.
My apologies, Heather. You've unwittingly walked into what has become an inside joke between a couple of other members, so please take no offense. As for your coin, I get the distinct impression I'm looking at a Zincoln. Is there any way you could post reverse photos as well?
Yeah, for 36 years only ONE has been found, despite having been searched for the entire time. But today, young Heather has found not one, but TWO of them, each better than a 6 billion to one shot. And she has BOTH of them on her improper sensitivity scale. What are the chances? Oy vey!
Perhaps the bigger question is did she know this prior to your explanation? I wholeheartedly agree that it's frustrating to see the same questions asked over and over again, but you know as well as I just how damaging the interwebs can be, particularly to this hobby and those new to it. If we're going to take it out on anyone, it should be the YouTube clowns, Ken Potter, and near countless other cheeseballs who rightly deserve everything we can dish and then some. Just my most humble and respectful opinion, of course.
Troo dat. IMHO, Potter has destroyed his reputation with this one tome. Just a little sensational book titling goes a good long way.
Without question! I don't care what the man has done, what he knows, or who he is to the hobby. The mere fact he was willing to place his name on that pile-o-dung renders it all utterly meaningless. The damage he's knowingly caused for what I'm sure is fairly modest scratch is appalling and makes him no better than the likes of silversearcher. Hell, I'd argue it actually makes him worse and simply because he knew better. Bash away, friends.
Surely @paddyman98 is the resident error expert here. He has quite the collection. I have a sneaking suspicion that he may also be hoarding all the Small date 82d coppers. Just a hunch right now...
It is an 82-D small date. As for the 3.0 grams, well that is unlikely. The best coins from the 1982, not including the 1982-D copper small date (1 known) would be the proof 1982-S large date and the 1982 Philly small date zinc and 1982 Philly small date copper. (Preferably in MS condition). The 1982 is the most produced coin in US mint history (17 billion) and possibly the world. Another 1982-D small date copper may turn up one day, but it's really a waste of time to look for it. Sorry I am not feeling well. Captain Buzzkill
So much courage. The bashing of this ball back and forth like in a women's tennis match is giving me neck strain. Step up, gentlemen. Besides, half the hobby knows that it's me who's sitting on a solid roll of them.
As if you could restrain yourself from sending a single one to the Newport Beach plastic factory... We know how you roll.
Sending? Nope. Taking one to the next big show? Yeahhhhh, got me. But I don't DO Newport Beach. I do Florida.
Oh but I do, every chance I get. I don't send stuff TO Sarasota much, but I get lotsa stuff FROM there.
Thanks ? So.....people win the lottery all the time just saying. The "D" certainly isn't an add on lol and I'm not "young" I'm just a normal person with an extraordinary amount of pennies that have been tossed in jars for 20 years for my kids. I was bored one day and decided to take a look at em. I can kind of understand getting tired of the same questions but isn't that why you're here to answer questions? I'm obviously asking for your expertise as I have none and I certainly don't want to go make an ass out of myself. If somebody wanted to suggest a proper scale that would be awesome because I've walked into a store with my pennies in hand and tried to weigh them on the digital display models but no numbers ever registered on the scales. I decided to stick with my mail scale.
