1982 D SD Bronze Penny

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by Joseph Schiavello IV, Nov 11, 2017.

  1. For those of the world that don't know 1982 was a transitional period for the penny. There were 7 different mints that year. Variables being the material the planket was made of, large and small date mark and the mint mark. Well last year another version of the coin was discovered by a Minnesota collector. NGC slabbed it calling it an error coin. Well that's been the only one to surface so far. Well I believe I found one of its friends and I wanted some advice on what to do with it as far as authenticating it and possibly selling it. Anyone???

You have a large date 1982D cent. Congratulations on your 1 cent windfall. Try not to spend it all in one place.

    That's worth 1 cent.
1982-D large date copper circulated and scratched.
They made 17 billion cents that year, but everyone has a
1982-D SMALL DATE copper. One has been found, and there are probably
others. But you could look at 1982 cents every second for the rest of your life
and not even get through 2 billion of them.

  14. Wow. That puts a lot in perspective Michael. Finding something like that is like finding a piece of Pluto on Mercury.
