Ok, that is a normal 1982 LMC. They were minted both in copper and zinc that year.

I'm well aware of that and that's not why I posted it! For your information it was to highlight the 1982 sm date/ 3.1 g now if we're a 1982 D bronze sm date/ 3.1g your answer would have had a different tone to it. So before you assume that everyone is less educated than yourself I would suggest that you not reply with a and I quote "Ok, that is a normal 1982 LMC " response!

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

That coin appears to be heavily polished.
If it ever had any numismatic value, it's certainly gone now.

I agree Rickmp 100% the thread wasn't about the value of the coin posted it was in reference to the sm/Lg date , copper/zinc varieties!

I'm still a tad confused at the intent of the thread. Is it the first one you have found roll searching, or you just wanted to share with the group what a small date looks like, or what? I see nothing wrong with what Furry posted. He added the information you should have included so new collectors don't think it is a rare coin.

Yes, it appears that it is the OP who is assuming too much.

OK so why were you highlighting that with no explanation in the OP? It presents the impression that the piece must be something special, which it is not.

Very true, but it isn't so his "tone" was appropriate.

Why not? You provided no information, so he did. And the assumption that you might not have that knowledge is not unreasonable considering you went to the trouble to create and post three images of a coin worth 1 cent.

7 varieties of the 1982 and 1982-D cent were issued that year. Even if yours was a special variety and excellent condition, you're not going to retire on it. Yours is worth 1 cent. It looks cleaned and highly polished.

You didn't do anything wrong. The OP is just being a loudmouthed jerk.

IMO this sounds jerky to me.

    Ok, lets stop here!
Chuck even with photos, there are no mind readers on the forum. At least ask a question specific to what you want answered/discussed.
Several others, lay off with the personal remarks, they do not show well for you. If I banned every one each time for being a "Jerk" there would be thousands at one time or another, so if you want to make personal remarks, change channels.

Now Chuck , what is your question? and I assume all questions and answers will continue to be civil. Thanks, Jim

Wow! That's all I can say. I created this thread that way for a reason and that was to create conversation in reference to the coin itself as to the what not to do and what you want to do along with sm date, lg date differences and weight but that opportunity just flew right out the window. Since joining Cointalk I have browsed thru a lot of threads and what bothered me the most we're replies like
" so what ,your point is or OK " Think about it what if that was someone who isn't into coin collecting just found a strange looking coin in a coin roll and was looking for more information? The first reply would have been fine without the " Ok " witch could make some beginners feel stupid in posting such a coin. I applaud everyone on here that goes the extra step in explaining the why part of it when replying to a thread. After all the information you give that person might just excite them into becoming the next Ken Potter and how exciting it would be to say that you were apart of it! Furthermore this thread is in the form of a statement and I did not suggest or imply that this is a special coin in any way shape or form! So for the ones on here assuming that I thought I had something special "WRONG" I've been doing this long enough to know the difference and would have stated that when I created the thread!
