I think the "6" you see is pareidolia.....just a figment of your imagination. Where is the raised area? Above the eagle's leg or below it? Chris
I'm not sure what the OP is referring to but I think it's the area under the Eagle's left wing (viewer's right). There seems to be some kind of line that goes down from the wing and touches the leg. IMO the line continues under the leg. I don't know what it is but that line is not present on any of the Kennedy halves that I have. There's also something going on under the other wing. A line from the wing to the Eagle's claw. I have no idea what they are but to me the areas seem raised. Maybe someone can enlarge the photos and get a better idea of what it is. I'm posting a photo of the reverse so you can compare it to the OP's coin. https://www.usmint.gov/wordpress/wp...-kennedy-half-dollar-uncirculated-reverse.jpg I don't see the 6 the OP is referring to.
Just pics that doesn’t show the error on mine. There are raised edges around the oval shaped error. I will try to outline the error.
Given the surface stains, and the damage around 'dollar', I'd say there is no error in the circle - it's either stained like the rest of the reverse of the coin, or it's a contact mark/hit.
