From time to time, as a minister, I do weddings and funerals and often get honorariums for doing them. At a funeral I did recently, I got a 1981A $50 FRN that I would call uncirculated. No creases to speak of. Because I don't need that money (it's completely outside of my budget), I can think about keeping it as a collectible. Is it a keeper, or should I just spend it?
i would keep it!!! its an older note, so if it is turned into a bank, and then passed on to the feds... there scanners will detect it, and send it off for shredding. Anything older then 1995 is shredded. With the note being a better grade note, it stands a better chance of being worth more then face! if you can possibly post an image, or even the destrict and serial, we might be able to give an idea of value
I recently PCSed, and haven't yet hooked up my home computer, so I'm typing at the base library right now. I don't know the serial number (although it's not a star note or 000001 or a radar, or anything like that), but I do know it's from the San Francisco FRB.
If it's nice and crisp I would keep it if you can afford to. I doubt it has much value over face but I'm sure it would be worth a little more to someone.
