How often do you see the Susan B. Anthony 1981 coins? Are they out there? I have been trying to find one but no such luck!
The only '81 SBA I've ever gotten in circulation was from a stamp machine at a post office, and this was almost a decade ago. I'm sure they're out there, it's just a matter of looking hard enough.
If you are looking in circulation, it is very unlikely to find an 81 SBA. They were issued only in mint sets that year.
Yeah I know but things like that sometimes pop up, just some are more than others! I was just wondering how long it may take me? Sonds like its going to be awhile! Ha ha
It may be a VERY long while. They weren't made for circulation so the coin swould have to come from a busted up set, and people didn't (and still don't) really spend these, so there's not an abundance of them in regular circulation channels
There are online sources where you can find the 81 SBA P-D-S. I have on source online that has the 18 P-D-S still in the mint cellowrap from mint sets for $14.
I've only got them from local auctions at about 2.5x face value. As others have mentioned, you will find them in circulation when you know what freezes over.
I love the SBAs. My husband gets them from his bank at work all the time. In fact, she keeps them for him. He's gotten me tons of 79s but only 1 80. I also have an 81 but I got that one on my own. You just have to keep asking for them. (ok maybe not a TON but I have about 40-50 SBAs, all collected from the bank)
Here in minnesota I can get bags of SBA almost every one is 1979! I have quite a few 80's thoughand only 1 '99
I've found a few '99 SBA's in circulation, since I started to get a handful of dollar coins each week from banks to spend.
