The filled mintmark is nothing and is actually quite common. As for the supposed "USA" on the wing, I assume you mean in the area just to the right of the eagle's left shoulder? This is the only thing I see that could possibly match your description. Either way though it's simply damage in one form or another, unfortunately...

If you look on the wing bottom part on the inner wing closest to were his claws are the first line in is an imprint just above the leaf in that part of the wing

Okay... thanks for the clarification even if I'm still not sure I'm seeing it. However, the same still goes that whatever it is it's unfortunately some form of damage. Keep in mind that ther are literally billions of coins out there and there are near countless opportunities for unintentional oddball damage to be caused. In addition, boredom (and the like) is also responsible for a great deal of damage many think could be errors. It's tough to learn what is and is not possible, I know, but asking questions places you on the right path.

Below is a link you may find interesting. It explains how dies are made and should help in the future when you see something outside the norm.

Please do check out the rest of the site as well. There's an immense amount of good info there for anyone willing to take the time to read it.

Oh, and welcome to the forum, Danielle... it's nice to have you here.

How much is a 1981 error quater in the letter r in liberty worth and the color of the coin differs from the 1980 quarter

you may want to start your own thread and post clear images of the front/obverse and back/reverse.

Also, if you notice, coins are made of metal. They are not protected from the weather (or people) elements ... so they can change color just like unprotected steel can rust/corrode.

You'll have to post pictures of the quater or quarter . but maybe a grease filled die which has no appreciable extra valuation.

I have a 1981 quarter missing the words, in God We Trust. Is my quarter worth anything?

Missing words? Then less than a quarter.

Suggestion.. Start your own unique thread. Pictures are a must.
