I came across an '81 quarter with the P closed. Is this considered an error or just a nice conversation piece (if that)? I read the posts here and I'm learning but I'm a slow learner with bad eyes I also have a '90 penny that has what appears to be the same type of mark as the closed P on the quarter but it's above the word Liberty. You can feel that it's a part of the coin but I don't know what it would be. Anyone have any ideas?
Not an error guy really - but it looks like die wear to me ( the center of the P has worn away causing the mm to look that way ). No premium would be given for such coins as a general rule.
That's what I figured. The penny facinates me, though. I wish I could get a better picture of it. Thanks for responding. I really appreciate the help. By the way... I really like your Avatar.
