I am not an expert on rpm or omm but with the die deterioration and the photo's i'd say it's due to the die deterioration. Wait for others
Nickels are pretty tough to find Rpms. Because of the type of metal, the dies didn't last very long. most of what you are gonna find is die wear.
The life of the die has nothing to do with an RPM. An employee with a hangover who wielded the mintmark punch would! Chris
I thought that mint marks were hand punched until like the late 90s. If I am right with that, if the mint punch is deteriorated, would kinda warrant a repunch right? I am pretty darn sure that is two Ds right there
Anytime I see a thread about D over D mintmarks I always get the urge to go to Dunkin Donuts! (I want to share this web image)
Ahhhhhhh....... i love dunkin donuts.... I will be the D-D (Designated driver) To dunkins, you can get drunk before we go if you want.. Missing the east coast, for west coast you must venture miles for a dunkin donuts..
If I recall, the use of a hand punch for the mintmark was discontinued in 1990. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong.) If the mint punch deteriorated, you just add more booze! Then, you can act as the Designated Driver for paddy and me. The doubled mintmark looks like die deterioration to me. Chris
The life of a die has everything to do with die deterioration/doubling. there is a period after RPM and it says die wear you should read my quote again.
This is just one of several for this date/mintmark. They aren't really hard to find if you're looking for them. The way you composed the sentences in your first post gives the impression that they are inter-related. Chris
I have no idea why several on this forum instantly and automatically dismiss submissions, typically with WTF images that makes one wonder if the poster even looked at them prior to posting, such as this without demanding better pix. Keep that nickel and work on your photo skills. It appears to me to have potential despite your photographic inability to render reasonable digital likenesses of it for sharing on the internet. If most of the people posting pix of their coins had to pay for film and processing before uploading, my money says they'd get much better real fast or go on to collect much larger items readily dealt with by rudimentary point and shoot methods.
No. I would rather people realize that I don't make iPhones. So I am sorry I can't take the greatest pictures.. or better yet buy me a camera instead of complaining bout the same old thing lol I can't fathom how you old folks can't click to brain cells together to realize that I am not the one that makes the technology so if you wanna complain about my bad picture, I say buy me a new camera, or make a better camera for I phone. I am about to put in my motto "e pluribus unum, bad picture takers" but I clearl states in the description I would take better pics. The lighting sucked in the building I was in
Now that you put it that way, clearly from your 3rd world pictures, it must be plating blisters etc. Spend it while you hurry up and wait for me, or likely anyone, to buy you a camera.
I really am more so kidding but being serious at the same time. Hope you know I just hate apple with the passion. I have had Older brick phones had better cameras on it, or at least it was macro capable. This phone I have to take pictures thru magnifying glass sometimes. I hate it too. Gotta take 50 thousand pictures to get the right one.
