So I have a 1981 D mint qaurter. If that's what you call it, not sure I'm extremely new to this. But when I looked at the D stamp I had to stare at it for a long time because it just looked like a dot or square completely filled in. Granted my eye sight isn't so great so can anyone please tell me what they think?

Welcome to CT. The hollow part of the D is a little nub of metal that can break off easily, making a filled mint mark.
