1981-D penny-what is this anomaly called

    I can’t point out anything specific besides possible double die but is it just me but are several features of this coin anomalous?

    It’s you. I see a normal coin with some normal circulation wear.

    You’ll have to provide some close-ups of what you are talking about.

    When you post pics, try to post only the coin in a full image, cropped to remove anything except the coin, full image of obverse and reverse as a minimum. This way we can assess the entire coin, providing you post good pics…imo…Spark

    Billions were made of this date so extremely common. Notice the rim is narrow on one side and wider on the other. This is known as a Misaligned Die Strike, aka MAD. It’s also common and any doubling you see is from a worn die.
    The correct term is not double due but doubled die and there is a difference. Only worth is face value.
