This 1980 penny, does not weigh over 3 grams. In fact, it comes in at 2.7 grams. If im not mistaken. This should weigh over 3 grams correct?. Any help would be apreciated people.
The proper weight for Copper Cents is 3.11 Grams Plus or Minus in weight tolerance in some cases.. Are you using a gram scale. Like a Jewelers scale?
Not sure the exact tolerance +/- but it could also be from a thin rolled stock. Make sure your scale is correct, reset and try again on a flat surface. Also compare side by side with another cent to examine thickness.
Yes sir. Its a jewelry scale. I have weighed 10 different pennies, and those one still weighs the same. I even dropped it on a wood dresser to hear the sound only copper would make. Sounded like a Zinc penny
