Some dummy messing with it. It could have been anything. It's called Post Mint Damage (PMD). Great photos BTW!
Ooh, that poor old cent was banged up quite badly. My guess is it was intentionally thrown down on the ground very hard by some child trying to find out how much damage he could do to it.
