I found this today. It is the one listed on Page 152 in the 5th Ed. It was listed as FS-034.1 But says It has been removed.. I wonder why or how they remove an coin from the list..?? Are they saying its not real? It looks like an S above the D.. Light but it is there.. Any help in understanding what I have found???
According to the Authoritative Reference on Lincoln Cents by Wexler and Flynn, Gary Darlington showed an early die state coin , showing the "S" to be indentations in the die. Abrasion created the appearance of a "S" mint mark. If this isn't the actual cent described, it is still a good example of an early die state, showing the effect. http://www.lincolncentresource.com/Controversial/Cents.html #8 down the page. Jim
