Part of nose and into eye is missing? I’m not positive if I see doubling in the date but looked different compared to others. Thanks for any comments. 018E4036-144C-43E1-860C-DDC2E117C75F.jpeg 796CA9F0-10B4-4762-94DD-25E12993D559.jpeg

Odd to be so severe from Denver. Either extremely over-polished or very heavy grease/debris filled die.

Just took out dad’s batch… been there for at least 21 yrs plus. I don’t polish or touch it until after I post and get advice. Thank you!

So do you bathe or polish after posting pics? I'm still separating by decade. :D
(i do get distracted by the older and/or shinier ones.)

Just looks like part of the flatter part of the obv.

Heavily polished die, losing some of the details.

I guess the previous person polished it 20 plus years ago. Not sure when dad put it in his coins. Thanks!

No, the coin hasn't been polished, the die it was struck with was!

Pam, in this instance the replies are not insinuating that you or someone else polished the coin. They are referring to a polished die

Sorry Pam, I meant over-polished die, done at the Mint.

Yes, as the surfaces were polished to extend die life and remove errors, they also remove details from the lower relief areas of the devices.
    Very cool ghostly looking Lincoln!

Looks like a case of internal die abrasion

If there's one, I am sure there is another.
