Greetings all, what do you compare the thickness of the date for it to be a doubled die? Do I look for a 1980 d That's thinner and compare it. I was looking on variety Vista and took a screenshot of what I thought was the same date but somehow it didn't load in my pictures. Also what are those lines going horizontal on the obverse. Die scratch's? I'll see if I can get another pic from variety of Vista thanks all
Variety Vista or Wexlers have no DDO or DDR examples of a 1980D LMC. The obverse marks are uniform and parallel so most likely to be roller marks from when the metal sheets were flattened to planchet thickness.
It's a one-sided woody, fairly common in 1980. We believe those are "roller lines", i.e. impurities pressed into the coin from dirt acquired during the planchet preparation process.
Thanks, I did look on variety Vista and didn't see anything either. kaosleeroy108, what is...tech a mint feeder belt? I'm lost. I didn't know roller marks was due from impurities pressed into the coin. Good stuff thanks
