A little bit of each on this 80 Lincoln. Stared at this a while. Be gentle! Lol! Thanks!

I’m assuming I put this in the incorrect thread. I will put in error forum and maybe someone can make a little comment.

Can't really tell Pam. It looks like a stain.
If it is recessed into the surface, that could be different.

Thank you! Appreciate it. I will get some better photos soon. Do you suggest on many of these coins I’m finding, do I wipe them? Not polish… just wipe them.

If there is any value doing that will no doubt devalue them.
A soak in acetone or xylene (well ventilated area) could help with maybe a roll of a qtip.

From what I can see it’s not a lamination. Hard to tell but it looks more like a strike through, like a piece of thread was on the planchet or die when it was struck.

I tried to send you a pm but it won’t let me. Check out my new thread, An Old Radar Note. I think you’ll like it.

Did you use the toothpick to determine incused or raised area? Looks like a stain to me.

Ok just did the toothpick test. Of course his hair has lines. But yes it’s a stain! I’m sorry sir. I tested the others. Thank you!

    Definitely do!
The green thorn is soft, and doesn't scratch the surfaces with luster as much as a mature one.
