1979 Canadian cent lamination error question...

    I found this today and am curious whether this happened before it left the mint or after. Does the pressure of the die impact cause the separation or does the separation occur after it leaves the mint? 1979canfullobv.jpg 1979fullrev.jpg

    This is called lamination and it is usually caused by the metal alloy not mixed up really good.
