any thing special about this date. i was in my lcs and decieded to buy a random ike for $1 ened up with one my my daughter to play with and a 78 for me just cus its the last year ect. i was looking threw a bin and asked if he seen a little better looking 78 he sid that one was the only one in there because some one from my coin club buys every 1978 that gets put in the ike bin. why?
Must be looking for '78D Peg Legs. Or else 1978 just has some special personal significance for that buyer.
Could be looking for DDO/DDR coins. Other than that, there aren't many recognized varieties for that year. Most of the varieties come before the bicentennial release.
i looked at the 72 and 78 the 72 has a nice d mint mark but the 78's d is a blob in the shape of a D but without the middle area
