Yes, I did clean this coin because it was so nasty dirty and I had to find out what was trying to show through all the gunk. If only it had been clean when I found it... if only... Anyway, I thought you might like to see this poor coin. jeankay
Other than the normal scratches and dents and grime there isn't anything out of the ordinary on the reverse of this cent. jeankay
Hi Arizona, I cannot actually claim I found this in circulation. It is probably one of the over 12,000 cents that a friend gave me months ago. There were three 2# coffee cans and one very old canning jar full of cents. Over 2,000 of the coins were corroded and totally uncollectible. Most of the remainder went into rolls and to my bank. Which is another problem altogether. We are in a small town with three banks. Most of the businesses use our bank. I am still being haunted by coins I turned in, so there hasn't been anything fun from circulation in a long time. Most of these cents may never leave our town. Ah gee, here I go feeling sorry for myself again... better go. And, thank you for the special mention. jeankay
Very nice, those are neat clashes IMHO. Be nice to put togeth a date set of them, possibly a date and mint set. :thumb: Phoenix
JeanKay Thats too bad about the small town bank thing. You can always sell copper pre-82 cents on the bay. I sold $50 for $90 a while back while spring cleaning
Thanks Jake... it would not have been possible without my dremel and the bon-ami cleanser I used... jeankay
Hmmmm....Mr. Arizona, looking for more? I have a few pounds of uncirculated pre-82's that are just not good enough for collections... lots of spots, fingerprints, carbon spots, and plain old ugly stuff. Maybe I should use my famous cleaning methods to see if they can be salvaged. jeankay
Oh Phoenix, you are always so optomistic... By the way, did anyone else notice that the die clash goes over to just above the 7, and under his nose and chin. Not to mention the little 'curl' at the end of his beard. I sure do wish I could find this coin again... it has to be here somewhere... jeankay
