1977 Lincoln Cent - Struck through

    Hello all. Could use some help determining what this coin might have been struck through on the reverse. Pattern continues through the top portion of the rim.

    Looks like post mint damage. It didnt come from the mint that way.

    PMD Post Mint Damage. Looks like someone purposely scratched this coin.

    Yeah it’s strange. Was thinking it happened during strike because the edges of the damaged area aren’t raised.

    Unfortunately, it works more like this: if there is raised metal, it is definitely not an error. If there is no raised metal, it might be an error. Yours shows no raised metal because it’s been circulated after being damaged.

    It did not leave the Mint in that condition. It's damaged.
