1977 Great Britain Pattern/Trial 19 Pence - Mega

I got this not long ago - it was listed by NGC as a “pattern” and somehow listed the weight as 11.3 gms, lighter than the normal 10 pence coin - that should weigh in at 11.31.
Anyway here are some pictures, the coin appears and feels in slab to be at least double the weight:

I've seen some weird trial pieces like this for old German coins, but I don't think I've ever seen a 20th century version.

 

Yes, I have a 1956 farthing that is OVER 30 gms....I will try to find it and post

 

I read this thread because I wanted to see what a 19 pence coin looks like. A little disappointed.

How was it struck? Normal dies on a larger planchet?

 

Yes, but they certified it without weighing it. Makes me a bit mad at that. Quite something in hand.
