1977 Gold Back Quarter

    I have a 1997 quarter with a gold colored back. Everything else on the coin is normal. Has anyone else seen one of these or know why this is the case. Thank you.

    I have not seen one sided gold. Sometimes the planchet could split and leave something like this:

    If the coin is thinner than other quarters, you have an error in which the outer layer is missing from the reverse. Try posting a picture in the Error Coins forum to get some expert thoughts on value.
