    Hi all,

I'm new to the world of coin collecting about 6 months or so. I was wondering if some of you, could share your expertise/knowledge. My questions are as follows:

I have a 1977 (no mint mark) licoln penny, with what apeares to be slightly misaligned. There apears to be double edging on the obverse of the coin that starts on the outer edge of the coin under Lincoln and goes counter clockwise alll the way around to the top of Lincolns head. It is slight but definently visible, even upon casual inspection. I can try and upload a picture if thats helpful. Is this an error? If so, what kind? and is it worth my while to send it out and get it graded/authenticated.

Thanks a bunch and have a great day!

It's impossible to tell what you have without looking at it, but if I had to guess based solely on your description, I would suspect counting machine damage.

Welcome! Can't wait to see pics. Sounds neat. How did you find it?

Sounds like a misaligned die, and/or a collar clash (The part of the die that creates the rim clashes against the rim of the collar leaving a clashmark on the rim that give it the appearance of a double rim.)
