I was recently searching through my collection of coins that I just received from the bank and I came across this 1977-D which appears to be an off center strike. I am fairly new to this hobby, however this struck me as odd and perhaps rare. Does anyone have any information on this and possibly the rarity or in fact if it is an off center and if it is a mint error? Any information would be greatly helpful. Thanks!!!:hail:

    It is an error.
    It is off center.
They are rated by the percentage off center, and that one might be 5%, don't know for sure, not really my area.
They are neat and unusual, but not particularly "rare" or valueable.
(I believe if the reverse is not off center, it would be considered a "mis-aligned die", or MAD.)

The reverse is in fact all correct, hence why I didn't post a picture of it. I just thought it was neat and wasn't sure what to make of it. So it is in fact a MAD. Thanks

nice misaligned die (MAD) error. Details are on the edge of the coin, probably worth $3-$5.
