So I picked this up today off the interweb the guy was from Canada and as far as he knew this was his dad's his dad passed away I bought some other coins from him he told me this Sat on his dad's desk for for over 40 years it's a type 1 I can see that on the reverse no mint mark if you look at the reading on the coin its perfect my question is how do I get it out of the cube? thank you
If you drill a little hole and slide about a 1/64th stick of dynamite in, that should do the trick. On a more serious note, it is not worth trying to remove it. That coin is only worth a possible couple dollars. They are very common, and it is not silver. If it was mine, I'd leave it as is. There is my opinion. BTW: No mint mark simply means "struck in Philidelphia" on most coins.
No I'll get that thing out of there I'll figure it out it could be an ms65 in that Cube or 66 I don't know just no scratches on it I can tell by it with the with the loop
also I did some reading about it I could see all the lines in the Liberty Bell none of them are like a Jefferson nickel they're all perfectly straight across the no wear mark on the on the moon there's no wear marks it's like mint his forehead all the hair is there
I have worked with acrylic when I built furniture and did inlays in tables. I think it will probably come out clean, but if I were you, I would check YouTube to see if anybody has tried it yet.
It's a $2 coin. Going through the trouble to remove it will cost more in time than the coin is worth. Heck, this post of mine cost me more in my time than your coin is worth. Just for starters, the coin is a business strike, not proof. Second, look at Ike's ear. There is a large gouge right through it. That coin AT BEST is XF45. As you said, keep trying. Don't stop. But please take some of the advice offered here. Every coin you post is not thousands of dollars. In fact, none have been.
Yeah buddy I had some nickels that were in like an ashtray and I smashed it all up I got them nickels out perfect and a bunch of pennies they come out once you get to the coin itself and they come out clean you're right so all the no-sayers you're all wrong
I remember in high school shop class a couple centuries past, we would take coins and entomb them in a variety of things. I liked a 3 color plastic thing (I have them somewhere). Top layer red, middle, white, bottom blue. make a circular hole in all three, put a quarter (or whatever size) and I forgot what we used to glue or acrylic or something all three pieces together. It was clear though as you filled the top/bottom holes and you can see the coins.
If you get it out it will be more damaged than ever. The graders will give it a details grade NOT MS anything.
thats cool it's definitely a type 1 and it's in really good shape his hair everything is is so legible the strike on the coin is amazing so I don't know I can't really see all the fields but from what I can see it looks good hey but this I'm going to email you I'm going to email you about this other coin
Why do you post here and ask for advice if you have no intention of acknowledging any of the feedback as helpful and positive?
If your willing to damage/break up a two dollar coin and paper weight. You might as well buy one of these toilet seats. Have fun! VINTAGE ACRYLIC LUCITE TOILET SEAT WITH SILVER AND MANY OLD COINS | #1878494753 (worthpoint.com)
You can take out from Lucite. With attention you can took out the big parts of lucite mechanicaly and the put to soak in MEK. The Lucite will go away. Another way it is to use A-20X solvent, but this will just softner the lucite. Smashed it is a no well way. Please do not insult, better give scientific methods or explanation.
