Don't really see anything that would indicate an RPM. Looks like a hit to the top serif. It also helps if the photos are oriented correctly.
    ckeep up the hunt!

What do you consider correct orientation for the scans? I try them in varying positions and tilts to try and get best look at the feature of interest. What equipment do you recommend? There is a shelf between the D's

A shelf in the mintmark area would indicate mechanical doubling.
I consider correct orientation to be as if I were reading the mintmark like a letter on a page. For an RPM variety, there really shouldn't be a need for a certain orientation to be able to see it...it should be visible from all angles.
    Keep up the hunt!

Except for the limitations of my equipment. What do you recommend and the min equipment? I suppose I could find an internet photo that looks like what I have.

It doesn't help to show a picture that "looks like" what you have, because there can be coins that look like RPMs but are not.
If you have a jewelers loupe, hold a camera up to it and snap a photo through the lens.

The way you posted that second photo is good, normally one of the obverse and one of the reverse is good. When you post like that, we click on the picture, another small box pops up and then we click inside the center of that box and it blows the picture up to full screen. You can click on your own pictures and see what I am talking about. When I pull your second picture up like that, I have to use my screen scroll to see all the areas of the coin.

I'm sorry, I left a step out. Click the bottom pic, a box pops up...click inside that box...the picture pops up...then put your mouse inside of that picture, you will see that the mouse has now become a small magnifying glass with a plus symbol on it...click again.....your picture should now be huge.

Actually, I was looking for how to take better images.

Without a digital scope....a scanner at 1200mpx is the best. I am assuming that is what you are using?

I am using 1200 dpi. the newer one is 4800 and sucked at the proof case coin but can get better images laid on the glass, only I hate the samsung interface - it goes low rez while you try to size, and you can't size its interface window up. I should look for updated software for that one. anybody know a good scan software to use with a samsung?
