I'm not much of a paper money person but someone gave this to my 10yr old daughter and I noticed the star so I traded her two dollars for it

    1. You should try to take better care of it than the previous owner.
    2. This one (in its present condition) is worth maybe $3.00...(retail).
    3. If it were from the Minneapolis or Kansas City banks...it would be worth around $300! ...in pristine condition.

Those two (2) banks created very few Star notes for 1976.

It would be a heartbreaker if it were one of the rare ones...all crumpled and torn like that. It's value could decrease as much as 90%.

All 1976 bills were printed at the BEP facility in DC. Some of the more modern notes, starting in the early 1990s, would have been printed at the new Forth Worth facility in TX.

Notes printed at Forth Worth will have the "FW" abbreviation on the lower right, just before the plate number.

Federal Reserve Notes were then distributed to one of the 12 Federal Reserve Banks, which are then put into circulation by those banks. They are indicated by a letter and/or district number A-L/1-12.
