I have a 50 state stamp set of the 1976 2 dollar bills in near mint condition. The 13c stamps are in the bottom left of the back of the bill along with a red ink stamp that says april 13 1976 tampa FL Main office. I have one 2 dollar bill with each 13 cent state stamp for a total of fifty different bills with fifty different stamps. The serial numbers are F20101511-F20101560 They are not completely sequential there are some repeats. And they have the f* mint mark which I believe is Atlanta? Any idea what a full set like this would be worth? Thanks for any help in advance , Tampa J
Had no luck on ebay finding dollars specifically like the ones I have, but the similar ones were priced between 6-20 dollars apiece.
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=$2+bills+with+stamps&_sacat=0 looks like maybe double face value would be realistic ? Certainly not a great return for holding something for 36 years. I'd sell them if I could.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1976-2-TWO-DOLLAR-BILL-FIRST-DAY-ISSUE-WITH-STAMP-POSTMARKED-BELLE-VERNON-PA-/150861720016?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item23200f29d0 that is similar to what I have, only I have one with a stamp from each state and all 50 of them are stamped with the tampa cancellation
I am sure they are the state flag series of 1976 ( Scott #1633- 1682) all 50 state flag stamps were printed on one sheet of stamps ( value is given as 18.75 for all 50 stamps used), but realistically that is what the retail dealer would sell them for, and their buying price would be $5-10 if at all, as they were saved by stamp collectors in whole sheets. Whoever made your $2/stamp combos took a shortcut, as the higher collector value was a set that were postmarked in each state of the flag. Several of the large stamp companies had someone in each state cooperate in making the sets which sold I believe for $249 for set of 50 $2 bicentennial bill , stamp postmarked in each state and a leatherette album. At a stamp show they go for $125 - $150. Jim
