I have this coin and I would like to know if I can get something for it, I have been told that it may be worth something but I am not sure since I am not an expert.

Looks like a normal Philly mint dime to me. Why do you think it's worth something more than face value?

Dimes from the Philadelphia mint dated 1979 and before held no P mintmark. Your coin is normal for that date.

First, welcome to the neighborhood @Rip Hunter !

A lot of people make the mistake of confusing coins like this with the "No S" variety of proof coins. You see, the proof versions in certain years were mistakenly produced without the mintmark. Your coin is not a proof specimen. Whoever it was that told you it might be worth more than face value was wrong.
