There is a small/large date for 1974. However, they exist in about equal numbers so there is no difference in values. Also, there is very little difference between the two.

So little I have never know or heard of one person wanting or needing one. They may have but I never heard it.
    Also it's a "P" mint.

Here is the reference for them. They are available by all 3 mints. BTW, I doubt seriously if you could tell the difference in the size of the date. The prime (only?) marker is the length of the cross bar on the 4.

And bhp3rd, what do you mean by "Also it's a "P" mint"? All be it minutely so, it is rarer than the Denver mint's that year.

In 1974 all three mints had variations of large and small dates but no proofs. It's so minor as to be mute point in any relation to other large and small date cents.
As I said, "I have never even heard of one person wanting or needing them for any reason at all but each to his own.

OK, I agree with that although I have heard of more than one person looking for the 74 small date. However, what does any of that have to do with "Also it's a "P" mint"? Are you trying to imply that a "D" mint would be better? Or that only "S" mints are worth keeping?

My mistake on only the "P" mint. Had to go to the book. The book says all three mints had both large and small dates but only one proof.

Even though they are highly collected they are still a variety. The easiest way to tell the difference is by the clearance between the motto ( IGWT ), and the rim. The Large Date has very little clearance between the motto and the rim. The Small Date has much wider clearance between the motto and the rim. Once you've seen them several times its easy to catch on... Top line is suppose to read arn't highly collected:headbang:
