1974Dpenny

I found a 1974D penny with a extra head on top of lincoln's head and markings on the side and rim on where the l on liberty. I can't figured it out if it was Lincoln face or liberty's face.

Let me guess. The "extra head" is Kennedy. These are novelty pieces where a genuine Lincoln Cent was counterstamped with a likeness of JFK and placed on a card with interesting trivia listing "coincidences" between Lincoln and Kennedy (e.g., both had a VP named Johnson, Lincoln had a secretary named Kennedy and Kennedy had a secretary named Lincoln, etc.). Your coin has no real numismatic value but there are a few people who collect them (mainly from circulation).

 

I can't figure it out either because I can't see it!

You might try opening an account with photo bucket. They offer a free service. Some here use them. I don't, but others seem happy with them.

Try a camera with macro or if you have a scanner, increase your DPI (PPI) and scan the coin, then crop it. Hopefully that will give us a clear enough image to examine.

 

Your penny sounds like a nice find.
