Question 1. Looking through some 1974D cents for RPM's and found this one! What do you think is going on just to the right of the 4? A cud that's breaking loose? A Lamination? Question 2. I looked on Variety Vista for RPM samples and the only thing they show is called Rotated! Is there an easy way to identify a "Rotated" mint mark? As always thanks for any feedback you have!!!
Definitely a lamination, which extends past the bottom of the 7, it seems to me. No idea about the rotated mint mark - beyond my experience.
Retained lamination. Rotated describes the orientation of the second punched MM. You will see them as either CW (clockwise) or CCW (counter clockwise) as opposed to compass descriptions, N, S, E, W, NE, SE etc. Look through some other dates and you will see clearer rotated RPM's that that of the 1974D, to give you some guidance and visual education.
