Found this 1974D Penny this weekend roll hunting customers rolls. This one really grabbed my attention but still new to all of this....would this b considered a chip...any help would be so helpful....I'm so hopeing to find my first good error coin....Hope the Pics help....Thanks for any advice and Happy Hunting Everybody
thats what i thought but so many of the chips i see are always squarish so really wasn't possitive...I'm still not positive but would b awesome if it really is...thanks for responding
There is no rhyme or reason governing the shape of a die break. A sub-surface crack forms and follows the path of least resistance. You have an interesting example of a die break, and it is located in a place where I don't recall ever seeing one before. Perhaps @paddyman98 will show you some examples of his "Hornets Nest". Chris

Large die chip, fields are really clean...nice coin! I see something else too, on the obverse...a smoothed over small die chip in front of the ear orifice...unless it's a trick of the lighting...jmho...Spark
