Does the word Liberty look a little thick? How about the four in the date? Are these any indications of a DD? I believe I read somewhere some coin being thicker in the letters is an indication of doubled die. The ass looks like the same in Vista but the liberty and the four didn't look like that what gives? Letters/mottos/dates ARE NOT punched into individual dies. The letters are on the master hub (I think the date was added to the master die in the 70s, but not positive).

So, it's not possible for an individual working die to be produced with different letters, unless the master hub is changed.

If you're going to search for errors, I strongly recommend studying the minting and die making processes. Once you know the process, you won't waste time on stuff like this.

While thickened devices might indicate a possible DD, I don't see it on your coin, so just PMD, IMHO.

Could it just be worn from circulation?
