I recently found this in a roll search, but not sure what this is called. I think this is really a neat looking 1974 Lincoln. Help please, I just want to know what this might be. Thanks guys.... 100_2176.JPG 100_2177.JPG 100_2178.JPG 100_2183.JPG

It is called a cud. A cud is a die break that forms on the rim and extends into the field.

Thanks took it to a "dealer" locally, who told me I might as well leave it with him, b/c it was where someone had added something to the coin. But it is so smooth even a cotton ball doesn't leave lint...LOL It came back home with me..

The someone was the US Mint. Nice job in taking the coin with you and I'd avoid that dealer in the future.

I'm waiting for a newbie out here one day to say, he/she had their coin confiscated and wanted to know why.

Some unscrupulous person said: Sir/Ma'am, this coin is a major mint error or counterfeit and it must be confiscated. Sorry....hand it over! :wideyed:

Nice find and hang onto it until you get it attributed.
