An area originally with 4 portion of rays. Is with 3 portions only. But the 3rd is doubled. Beside that; on the bottom the word DOLLAR seem like was strike 3 times. Also in the Oberse called my attention the upper end of the # 1 Please tell me It's a DDR? o another variety with 3 rays only? Thank.
Interesting, I know some will say machine doubling etc but I am not sure with the 1 (look at bottom of G also)...and I do not understand the 3 or 4 ray thing and I collect these.
The original way in this area was 4 rays like this... But; this is not the first I found with 3 rays only IF YOU CHECK ALL YOUR COLLECTION. WILL SEE SOME WITH 3 AND SOME WITH 4.
Not a DDR not a DDO. Just a beat up working hub that made it through several years of production beginning in 1972. 1973 1972 It even occurs on the proofs. 1973-S Sloppy workmanship? Poor hub handling or polishing? Who knows. Different, yes. Doubled die? No. As for the "LL" in the OP, just machine doubling which was rampant on these hard CnClad planchets in the early 70's.
If it's different (3 rays), at least has to be A VARIETY. a rule of DDO is that. The shape "is in the Die" before the strike happen. Well... that double ray 3-4 is in the die; that's why that's happen in thousands an thousands of half Kennedys. Now, I'M LOOKING FOR "THE VARIETY" 5 rays, because believe or not. They also exist.
