Hi! I have a 1874 gold 1$ and the 1 as well as the word dollar is doubled as there is two of them for each letter, and on the other side AMERICA is also doubled. Is this common? The coin is so small I can't get a good close up pic yet but will keep trying. Any info would be appriciated.
    Thanks Wade

it is hard to say without seeing the coin.
    Good luck on the pictures.

It is probably Longcre doubling, gold dollars frequently have very strong Longacre doubling on both sides of the coin.

If it is Longacre doubling is it worth any extra or is considered an error?
