I pulled this from a roll recently and am not real confident in my grading skills. It doesn't seem to have much wear but on the other hand there are several scratches and bag marks (?) on the obverse, so am I right in thinking it's around AU-50 or so? Any opinions are very welcome!
My dealer had one---we all thought it graded XF/AU...sent it to NGC and it came back MS62...... I really don't see any wear on this one....looks like a MS62/3....but if it has wear then yes I would say AU! Speedy
looks ms to me. obviously i don't have it in hand and I can't tilt it around to see if the light shows any rub, but it's a nice find!
I read a bit about that- I should hold it (by the edges!) under a lamp and rotate it to see if there's any part that doesn't reflect as much as the rest? It doesn't appear to have any areas with less reflectivity or fingerprints on it. I'm trying to figure out whether it'd be worth sending in to grade since a dealer I took it to didn't want to buy it without 'official' (TPG) verification that it was a doubled die. I also have three others that I've pulled but this is the nicest one. Two are noticably worn and the other looks nice but has no luster.
Marks on hairline, and light scratches on obverse I can only see a little DDO on trust but it might be because of the picture looks like MS-60 /61 nice looking for that year.
Nice coin. it's likely MS. With some contact marks, the most noticable on the hairline would be a minus. hard to tell if it's got luster that would help overcome some slight impairments. If you sent it in to a TPG you may get a MS63 depending on if it's got some of those little things that can only be seen by having a coin in hand. I would just from the picture give it a MS 61/62, and I'm probably off anyhow.
Thanks- based on the responses, I think I'll send it in and see what it comes back as. Look for an update in 2 months? 3 months? Or however long it takes.
