:rolling: I have just come across a 1974 Lincoln that is struck in Aluminun. The Redboob says such a penny was in fact minted as experimental pieces. It also says none were put in circulation, and most were later destroyed. One was preserved for the National Numismatic Collection in the Smithsonian Institution. There were 1,579,324 of these experimental pieces struck along with other experimental coins that were struck in bronze-clad steel. Has anyone else seen or heard of any of these pennies being in existance in the general public?
