What kind of 2 would it be? Where would it have come from? There's no typeface like that anywhere else on the coin.

You're looking for shapes in clouds.

Well it fell off a cloud onto my penny because that's definitely a 2

    No, it's definitely damage.

I highly recommend you read Wexler doubled die site and error -ref. Then go back and read them again. Ask yourself, "how could this occur during the minting process". If you can't come up with a reasonable answer, then it's probably damage. And if you don't know enough about the minting process, then you shouldn't be making statements that has term as like "it must be"

So, would you please explain how this occurred during during th he minting process.

That's what they call in the coin world a mint mark error

And what mint used a 2 as a mintmark?

I don't know why you even bother to post questions since you already seen to know the answer. Oh well, another one to add to my Do Not Reply list. Good luck

Just some random hits on the coin. Can't be a mint mark error if it is not a mint mark.

Sorry.. But it is definitely not :yack:

Doug I know you are desperately seeking some great mint errors but.. You need to understand the minting process on how coins are created and how Mint Erros occur.
Belive me when I tell you it is not a misplaced 2.
I have been doing this error stuff for 34 years now.

Now.. If you want to prove all of us wrong then send this coin and all the others you have shown to a major grading and attribution company and they can tell you what you have. I prefer NGC.
