I bought this coin awhile back. I never really checked out my mint wrapped coins, but noticed on this on doubling on the date, motto, and LIBERTY. Has anyone heard of these before? If you have, how much is it worth?
Yep, it sounds like a DDO-002 on the coneca list. Value ? http://www.coinlink.com/News/us-coi...om-1973-s-dollar-on-a-copper-nickel-planchet/
Bro- I am wondering if you just hit the jackpot????????????????? Send it in to NGC for the edge view feature for grading and pay the attribution fees. Holy smoke.
I am working on that right now. My cousin has the scales, and he is not home right now. It would be cool, if it is the clad one.
That's the packaging for the silver clad version. It's a known die variety in the silver clad pieces. This is a master die issue as well and many Ikes are DDOs or DDRs. Thanks, Bill
Note my post that made it just before yours. It's a doubled die. It is not, in the overall scheme of things, unusual.
A really neat coin to find, but unfortunately very common for this year. This is why none of the TPGs are attributing this coin. Try finding one without the doubling, now that is a challenge. Also, the two toned marks on the rim of the coin are from the silver cladding of the coin. Remember, it is a 40% silver clad, not 90% silver coin. You should see the cladding marks around the rim.
It is not uncommon at all we, It is not uncommon at all we find these often - it is a doublED die but I often say it is more uncommon to find an Ike that is not a doubled die than the other way around. It is the better 73 silver so it's good for study - I have one right here that I've had for a year or more - don't know what to do with it it just sits around like many Ikes do. Would you'all like for me to comment on how much I don't love Ikes anytime soon??? I'll be glad to if you've missed my opinion lately.
You guys need to learn that from the photos alone You guys need to learn that from the photos alone it was silver never mind the mint package - got to learn what looks like silver folks.
