New to the coin collection and have some questions about this penny ? Seems to have a different color more reddish than any other that ive seen ? Can anyone help ? Is it worth anything
Welcome to Coin Talk. The cent has been exposed to the elements. What you are seeing is environmental damage/ exposure causing the coin to turn that color. It is worth one cent.
Go to this page and then put your pointer on one and then the other of the first 2 copper oxides. One is red and one is black , combination ratio determine the range. Copper can also form many other colors due to other than oxygen ( oxides) combinations. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copper_oxide Jim
Yeah, not worth more than usual. I like to keep those types of coins though because they're different and you don't come across them all the time.
Welcome to CT @Mundo Ramirez. Thank you for posting full size photos of your coin. It would help if in the future you would crop the photos so just the full coin shows with as little background as possible. Also, lighting from two different sources might help bring the coin to life.
