I came across this 1973 Quarter and thought the coloring was pretty neat. I have never seen one like this. Im sure its not collectible to the pros but gonnna keep it in my collection anyway just for the unique appearance.
Yes.. that is Environmental Damage. Exposure to the elements can change the appearance of any coin. I have dug up thousands of clad coins such as yours over the years. This is a enlargement of your 25C
I've have found ton of the type coins. I have just never come accross one with the same shading of dark color all over the coin. The coloring is usually reddish dark brown or light grey or has a mixture all over. Here are just a few of my findings.
