1973 P Quarter with Extra Number after Year

Had this for a while just going through some of my Oddities n Whatnots . Anyone have any idea what they're even called ? I have a few of them in different years , some not as clear to see it only see on an angle .

Looks like a normal 1973.. Some kind of stain is causing Pareidolia

 

Pareidolia is like looking at the clouds and spotting an aircraft carrier.

 

That so called extra number is not raised. A stain perhaps?

 

So I guess we're all seeing the same cloud

I'll try not to make the analogy so difficult. Pareidolia is like looking at the clouds and seeing a rabbit.

I see a stain. PMD. The stain resembles, well, a stain. No number. No aircraft carrier. No rabbit. Just a very well circulated, worn, tired coin.

 

So sidenote to that response which I Enjoyed and Appreciated very much Has there been anything like that , an extra digit or partial digit in any of the error as defects that can occur or No ? Thank you

 

The way the minting process works it seems there would need to be human intervention in order to have an extra number or extra partial number. ie: manipulation

I am incredibly far from an expert in this field. I would let someone with more experience tackle this query.

 

Why couldn't it poss be a Grease Strike or DDO ? I'm going to be posting more with the similarities in the dates having an extra or DD over the DAte

 

So Adam, just out of curiosity sake, what number do you see?

 

a worn, dirty 25 cent coin is all I'm seeing

 

Looks like a regular Zero to me . It's the same as a Grease Strike might not be punched but the letter or Number is still there . I thought it was just a regular old coin too untill I started seeing things similar to this in the form of a Mint mark or Letter and Numbers too . I understand your Apprehensiveness . This might be something not too many ppl can see like Colorblindness . Which I am .
