Just picked up this Proof set from a local. Ended up getting it for a great price. Just shy of an ounce of gold.

Vraiment jolie et intéressant. Je aim tout français or. Haïtien aussi je devine? Really pretty and interesting. I like all French/Franco gold. Haitian too I guess?

Wow.. The 1000 Gourdes alone is well over $1500.00

    Very nice!

Best thing about this Proof Set, the coins are still in their protective plastic tray, hence no oxidation/ toning/ handling marks. You got a beautifull set.

Ended up reconnecting with the seller of the proof set and purchasing a second set. This one is proof but not cameo like the original. Very interesting. I'll post side-by-sides for comparison. Krause has a proof strike total of 915 and a regular strike total of 2380. This second batch looks every bit proof, but certainly not cameo. There was no box for the second set.

Drools!! Did the seller say how they got them in the first place?

Seller's parents would go to Haiti annually to do mission work as eye doctors. Apparently Papa Doc would invite them to the palace every year and they would decline because they didn't want to be assassinated. How true that is, I don't know...but family mythology is not to be questioned where I come from...
