1973 D Penny (will post pix if I can get a good one)

I have a couple of rolls of 1973 D Penny, I didn't discover what appears to be an error until the other day in looking at some of them. Some have what appears to be the Lincoln Memorial showing through slightly on the obverse side of the penny and then some have the word OF in UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is missing as well as the E and some the E P in the E Plu.. Unim. Then I had them in a stack and the thickness on one side is much greater than the other side as you rotate them. I got these rolls in 1973 and have been tucked away since. Does anyone know about them. Please Email to my yahoo address Thanks

Sounds like you might have several die-clash pennies. This happens when the 2 strike dies collide without a planchet in place. Part of the design on each die is imparted to the other. When next planchet through is struck elements of both the reverse and obverse designs appear on each side of the coin.

See if your coin looks similar to the 1995 pictured on THIS PAGE

If not, can you post a picture of both sides of one of your coins?

also, as these coins are fresh out of their rolls, be extra carefull not to get fingerprints on them.

    Hope this helps.
